Achieving high environmental standards is a key business commitment for Castleoak. Current achievements include:

  • Delivered the first BREEAM Excellent UK care home at Wadhurst Manor
  • Delivered the first PassivHaus certified UK care home at Juniper House
  • Build to Stirling University Gold standard for dementia design
  • ISO14001 (Environmental Management)
  • BS8555 (British Standard for Environmental Management) certified
  • Every site is registered on the Considerate Constructors Scheme 
  • FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and/or PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) Certification for all timber used at our in-house factory
  • Embodied carbon analysis of care homes
  • Active Sustainability and Environmental groups in-house
  • A focus on reducing CO2 emissions and site wastage
  • Tailored Site Waste Management plans
  • Working with key industry bodies; BRE, CEWales, EST, BSRIA
  • SMART meters and sub meters to monitor energy efficiency
  • Car share incentives to reduce business miles travelled
  • Working with our supply chain to improve their environmental credentials
  • 3rd party environmental audits take place on all sites

From the earliest stages of a project, right through to handover and throughout the warranty period, we work closely with our customers to offer clear guidance and advice to monitor and improve site and building performance.

All Castleoak sites are registered with the scheme with over 100 registered since 2002. We consistently score above the ‘all builder average’.
